The electrical activity in the air in advance of a storm is registered using two or three spatially separate units. These have ferrite antennae. The antennae and connected amplifiers are tuned to the same transmission range. Maximum signal values are summed and the resulting analog signal is fed to a comparator to generate a warning signal. The warning signals of all units are combined by AND gates. Warnings can be provided acoustically and optically. Trigger pulses for the registration can be provided by data loggers. The electrical activity of the storm can be displayed by LEDs.
