The clamping unit with a basic housing (1) accommodates a clamping mechanism for the shaft of a tool (W) designed as a ring-chamber (6) filled with a hydraulic fluid and a hollow screw (12) serving as a stop element. When using a tool (W) with integrated coolant ducts (9) the coolant is supplied through a telescopically arranged duct (10) leading into the screw (12) and kept under tension by a helical spring positioned around its outer surface.
