The rotatable dosing rod(48) of the glue basin which is located between an application roller(58) and outlet slot(46) has a long section(75) with a circle segment shaped cross section. The longitudinal walls of the outlet slot are constructed and spaced apart so that the longitudinal edges of the long section of the dosing rod when the dosing rod is in a closed position lie adjacent to the corresponding walls of the outlet slot so that the inner chamber(51) of the gluing head(16) is outwardly sealed.
