A process for the preparation of a compound of formula I: CHEM wherein R1 is (C1-C6) alkyl; comprising the step of allowing a compound of formula III: CHEM to react with a compound of formula IV: CHEM in the presence of a metal carbonate, characterized by the use of water as solvent.
