PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for encoding a weighted non-binary repetitive accumulated code and a space-time code are provided to randomize output symbols of a repetition unit and improve the performance of a channel encoder by adding weight values to the repetitively inputted symbols. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for encoding a weighted non-binary repetitive accumulated code and a space-time code includes a plurality of antennas, a repetitive unit(202), a weight unit(204), an interleaver(206), and an encoder(208). The repetitive unit presents plural binary bits to non-binary symbols by using non-binary elements and outputting repetitively the non-binary symbols. The weight unit generates the weighted symbols by multiplying weight values by the non-binary symbols. The interleaver is used for interleaving the weighted symbols. The encoder is used for encoding the interleaved signals. The encoded symbols are transmitted by using the antennas.
