The process comprises obtaining an image or spectrum MR having any characteristic or MR sensitive to the pH of molecules impervious to the membering. Normally, the chemical displacement of a nucleous located in or at the vicinity of a ionisable group of a non permeating molecule is used as 'pH informating resonance' in the extracellular space. Various MR methods (chemical displacement selective image (CSIC) or spectroscopic image (SL)) enable to determine the distribution in the space of the 'informational resonance' and therefore the distribution of the extracellular pH in the sample. Said information is useful for example in clinical situations such as muscular dystrophies, ischemia, tumoral transformation and metastases.
