PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently convert sine-wave voltage (electric energy) to be input to piezoelectric element for an elliptical vibrator for transmitting elliptical vibration to a cutting tool into elliptical vibration (mechanical energy) when a material to be cut is cut by a cutting too with elliptical vibration. ;SOLUTION: A body 7 of an elliptical vibrator 2 is formed into a cylindrical shape. Predetermined sine-wave voltage is input from a control mechanism 11 to piezoelectric elements 9, 10 provided on the cylindrical body 7 to generate elliptical vibration in the elliptical vibrator 2, causing the elliptical vibration of a cutting tool 6 to cut a material 5 to be cut.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
