The invention relates to a process for the reduction of the distortion of the current induced by the crossed phase modulation in a system (1) of the optical fiber transmission wavelength division multiplexed comprising a transmission line (7) formed of several sections (tf) of the optical fiber with a repeater (9) is interposed between two sections (tf) of the optical fiber, the transmission system (1) having n channels with different wavelengths, n being an integer number greater than the unit. At the level of each repeater (9) which connects a first and second consecutive sections (tf) of the fiber, is introduced a time shift between the channels in such a way that, with respect to the input of the first section of optical fiber, the (n + 1) - th and the n - th channel are offset taun to the input of the second section (tf) of the fiber, n being an integer less than or equal to n, where taun is chosen greater than zero and less than a value of eliminating the correlation of the contributions of distortion of the intensity of each section (tf).
