Production of unsaturated urethane monomers and/or polymers by reacting mono- and/or diisocyanates with mono- and/or dihydric alcohols under anhydrous conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprises using a 2-20% stoichiometric excess of isocyanate and reacting the excess isocyanate groups with a short chain alcohol.
