The method involves inserting a deformable enclosure (3) having constant volume between a printed circuit board (1) to be maintained and a rigid base (11). The enclosure is tight and filled with incompressible particles (4). A vacuum pressure is applied inside the enclosure using a vacuum generator (5) connected to the enclosure so that the particles amalgamate to constitute a solid block that partially supports on the base and maintains the board. An independent claim is also included for an insert for universal maintenance of the printed circuit board, positioned between a rigid base and the board.
