The method involves determining a graph representing a vehicles traffic network, and performing switching and/or routing process in the network by calculating shortest path between an initial starting point and a destination point within the network. The shortest path is calculated by selecting tuples of least cost paths among a set of shortest paths which is obtained by transforming increment/decrement vectors. An independent claim is also included for a navigation system for implementing a navigation method.
