The device has a database (14) to store information of a standard barcode (8) e.g. EAN13 code, assigned to each packed product (7) and historic information of the product. A case (10) has a reader to read the barcode having thirteen digits, and to search related information from the database to determine a price to be displayed. Initial two digits identify code type and intermediate ten digits is a unique number (N) for each product. The bar code types are price-weight type, weight-price type and industrial type.
