The procedure consists of preparing two or more samples containing photoluminescent pigments such as SrAlO4, SrS:Ca:Bi, ZnS:Cu or ZnS:Cu:Mn, that are excited by photons emitted in a cascade by an atom or by a non-linear crystal illuminated by a light beam with sufficient energy to excite the crystal. One or more of the samples, i.e. master samples, are subjected to modulated stimulation by infrared or visible light, which produces a supplementary luminescence in the slave samples, independent of the distance separating them or the media between them. The communication apparatus contains photoluminescent samples (38, 46) on master and slave films exposed in obscure chambers (34, 44), transmitting signals from a generator (53) to a recorder (52).
