The device has switches (46), each receiving a supply voltage with high potential and a supply voltage with low potential. Each switch selectively provides the supply voltage either with high potential or with low potential in response to an attack signal generated by an inverter (38). Each of a set of transformers (48) transforms the selectively produced voltage and supplies the transformed voltage to lamps (36). An independent claim is also included for a process for controlling a lamp of a liquid crystal display device.
