The instrument has a lower buckle (2) surrounding a shoe (14) for supporting the shoe. The buckle has a curved rear portion (12) on which a shoe-horn raceway is fixed. A shoe-horn pad (15) is mounted in the raceway and brought back towards the buckle under the action of its weight. Height of the shoe-horn pad is self-adjusted based on height of an upper of the shoe. The adjustment is obstructed while placing the buckle on ground.
