The device has locking units (131, 132) having a mobility and a geometry allowing two caissons (1, 2), under the effect of bringing the caissons closer without applying force on an operating handle, to reach an intermediate locking position. The locking units and anchorage units (211, 212) are in a mutually retaining state in the position. The actuation of the handle brings the locking units to an open state or to a closing state. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus comprising an enclosure formed of two closing units and equipped with a locking and protection device.
