The procedure uses an elongated profile (10) with two side flanges (11, 12) and a central recess (13) divided into compartments containing a polymerisable/reticulable adhesive substance (20) covered by a protective film. The profile is cut to the required length to cover a fault in the wall of a tank or pond, and after removing the film it is applied under pressure, e.g. by a robot arm. Partitions between the profile's compartments are made from a supple material with fracture lines that facilitate cutting to the required length, and adjacent zones of the flanges are grooved.
