The apparatus has cutting devices (13b, 13h) to cut a mussel pocket along a longitudinal plane. Mussels present in the pocket are removed from a roll net surrounding them and fall on belt (100) of a conveyor (10) on which they are channeled by edges (19) to evacuate them by the conveyor. The edges provided at exit of a deflector (14) form guides to ensure routing of the mussels from the deflector until a mussel declumping machine (3). The cutting devices are rotating discs or a set of rotating cutters. The deflector moves aside parts of the net from its initial position around the mussels.
