New installation comprises a boiler and an absorption unit, where the boiler is supplied with a fuel gas from the iron and steel industry, the resulting flue gas is treated in the absorption unit, and the absorption unit is regenerated with steam from the boiler. An independent claim is also included for producing carbon dioxide from a gas comprising carbon monoxide (10-35 vol.%), hydrogen (less than 10 vol.%), carbon dioxide (10-35 vol.%) and nitrogen (to 100 vol.%) by burning the gas with an oxidant containing at least 10 vol.% oxygen while producing steam, separating carbon dioxide from the resulting flue gas by passing the gas through an absorbent, and desorbing the carbon dioxide with steam produced during the combustion step.
