The device has an optical waveguide (G) comprising an end (e1) illuminated by an LED (3) and non traversing orifices. The orifices are situated opposite to a light engine (2) and have thickness same as that of the waveguide. The waveguide diffracts the light beam by lateral reflection of the beam and has a groove (9). The waveguide assures a dispersion of axial and lateral light rays, or only lateral ray. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle equipped with a lighting and/or signaling device.
