Process of deposition of metal particles on fibrous material (A) filter comprises: contacting (A) (which is electrically conductive) with an aqueous solution containing cations of the metal to be deposited in acid medium; applying negative polarization to (A) to cause electro deposition of at least 0.5 mg of magnesium metal/g of (A); and drying (A) to form a uniform coating constituted by non-agglomerated dispersed micrometric particles. An independent claim is also included for a fibrous material coated with particles of metal electrodeposited by the above method, where the particles has a granulometry lower than 1 mm (preferably 0.1 pm).
