The assembly has a main shelf (12) disposed horizontally in a trunk of a motor vehicle, and an additional shelf (14) disposed above or below the main shelf. The shelf (14) is movable with respect to the main shelf between a retracted position in which the shelf (14) is adjacent to the main shelf and a deployed position in which the two shelves are spaced and define a compartment between them for receiving objects. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle including a trunk shelf assembly.
