The assembly has a casing receiving a sleeve (3) that is associated to an elastic unit (4). The unit (4) has a transversal wire (11), and longitudinal wires (9, 10) projecting radially outwards from the sleeve and compressed against the casing. The wire (11) is supported against a deformable tongue (17) of the sleeve and is compressed on a rod of a seat head-rest, when the rod is inserted in the sleeve. The sleeve (3) receives the rod of the seat head-rest in translation, and the casing is associated to an upper part of a backrest of the seat. An independent claim is also included for a seat of a motor vehicle comprising a head-rest rod guiding assembly.
