The device has a light source (20) e.g. incandescent lamp, emitting a light beam (21). A waveguide unit (22) introduces the beam in housing (6) of a hollow tube (5) of a centromedullary nail (1) till an orifice (9) situated at an end (11) of the tube. The waveguide unit has a fiber (23) made of transparent material, with an end arranged to cooperate with the source in a manner that the beam propagates in the fiber till another end.
