The method involves addressing an object (O) to a recipient and notifying an object passage to the recipient by identifying an object retrieving place with an automatic object distributor. The object is stored in the distributor relative to an identifier in the recipient. A chip card (CP1) in the recipient is read and authenticated for selecting the object associated with the identifier and withdrawing the object from the distributor. An independent claim is also included for an object distributing device including an automatic object distributor.
