The device has a protective shield (14) e.g. heat screen, partially enveloping an exhaust volume (12) e.g. exhaust muffler. Tightening rings (16) fix the shield to the volume, where each ring embraces the shield and the volume. Struts (18) are disposed between the volume and the shield, and rest areas are defined on the external lateral surface of the volume, for each ring. Each strut has shield support surface (40) under each ring.
