The plug has a heating head (64) expanded with respect to a cylindrical section (62) in a manner to laterally extend above an external cylindrical wall (68) of a section of a lower heating part (58) to increase heat exchange surface with air/fuel mixture. The head extends partially inside an internal combustion chamber and is profiled with respect to direction of flow (66) of mixture for presenting an aerodynamic profile. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement of a glow plug in an internal combustion engine.
