The method involves measuring information representative of average transmission power of transmitted signals in a determined transmission frequency band. Linearity of the signals is qualitatively evaluated based on an adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) type specification threshold. Supply voltage of a power amplifier (2) is reduced as long as the evaluated value is greater than the desired threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a telecommunication terminal permitting an autocalibration of its transmission channel in a manner to control its transmission power.
