The restraint consists of a sheet (3) of a material that resists attempts to tear it with bare hands, e.g. of strong cotton or polymer material, fitted with reinforcing elements (5a, 5b) along two opposite edges, quick-fit fastening straps (7a, 7b; 9a, 9b), and handles (15) on its outer surface. The sheet, preferably having sides measuring between 90 and 140 cm, is designed to be wrapped round a threatening person, pinioning the arms to the sides and allowing safe removal.
