The top box (1), comprising a lower shell (2) fixed to the vehicle roof and an upper shell or cover (3), connected to the lower shell by hinges (6), has the lower shell made by an extrusion/blow-moulding process to make twin walls (2a, 2b), while the upper shell is injectionmoulded with a single wall and has edges (4) that overlap the edges (5) of the lower shell. The latter can also have stiffened zones created by lengthwise ribs, where the opposite walls are in contact and pierced with holes for threaded fixings.
