Use of an alkylsulfone compound (A) or its mono derivatives or dioxides for the manufacture of a drug to treat or protect against toxicities associated with ionizing or non-ionizing radiations or associated with administration of chemotherapeutic agents, protection or repair of healthy tissue in a patient affected by cancer receiving a therapy by radiation and/or chemotherapy with chemotherapeutic agents, or treatment or protection against toxicities associated with a therapy against cancer. Use of an alkylsulfone compound (A) of formula (R1-S(=O)-(CH2)n-N(R3)-C(=S)-N(R4)-(CH2)m-S(=O)-R2) (I) or its mono derivatives or dioxides of formulae (R1-S(=O)2-(CH2)n-N(R3)-C(=S)-N(R4)-(CH2)m-S(=O)-R2) (IIa), (R1-S(=O)-(CH2)n-N(R3)-C(=S)-N(R4)-(CH2)m-S(=O)2-R2) (IIb) and/or (R1-S(=O)2-(CH2)n-N(R3)-C(=S)-N(R4)-(CH2)m-S(=O)2-R2) (III) for the manufacture of a drug to treat or protect against toxicities associated with ionizing or non-ionizing radiations or associated with administration of chemotherapeutic agents, protection or repair of healthy tissue in a patient affected by cancer receiving a therapy by radiation and/or chemotherapy with chemotherapeutic agents, or treatment or protection against toxicities associated with a therapy against cancer. n, m : 1-12; and R1-R4H, 1-6C alkyl or aryl. An independent claim is also included for a composition (C) comprising (A) and chemotherapeutic agents, as combination product for simultaneous use, separated or continuous in time. ACTIVITY : Cytostatic. The ability of (A) to protect cells against toxicities was tested. The results showed that (A) protected 16-45% of the normal cells genotoxic and cytotoxic attacks.
