The present invention relates to a method for locating a moving object from bistatic distance and velocity measurements of this object using a multistatic system, and it is characterized in that it is associated with the minus two pairs of bistatic distances such that for each pair the ellipsoids that determine them have a common focus, that we solve for each pair the intersection of these two ellipses at different altitudes, which we optimize with respect to the variable of altitude z the different intersections, that having found the best value of z, one calculates the Cartesian coordinates in three dimensions of this object, that, knowing the coordinates of the object and at least three bistatic velocities, one deduces the direction and the module of the real 3D velocity vector of the moving object.
