The method involves acquiring successive images (I0, If) of a zone in which ends (R0, Rf) of the blades (1) pass during their rotation. Processing of the acquired images adapted for measuring the positions (P0, Pf) of the ends of each blade in the images is performed to determine the presence of the blade in the images. The movement of the ends of a blade is rectilinear in the zone. An independent claim is also included for a wind turbine installation comprising a blades monitoring device.
