A device for planishing a continuously circulating metal strip (2) under traction comprises a planishing unit (1) flanked by two assemblies of tension rollers upstream and downstream in the sense of circulation (A) of the strip. Each assembly of tension rollers comprises a block of four rollers (R1 to R4, R5 to R8) forming a double-S block and two pinch rollers (P1, P2, P3, P4) cooperating respectively with the entry and outlet rollers of the corresponding double-S block.
