The method involves making a concentrator (50), which comprises a tube (52) having an inner diameter, of determined clearance value, larger than diameter of a cylindrical assembly formed by a helix (40), where the clearance value is 20-30 mu m. The helix with insulating supports (42, 46) is introduced in the tube. The helix is set in the tube by applying application force (Fs) on a part of a spacer of the concentrator along setting axes passing through a helix axis. An independent claim is also included for a device for setting a helix with insulating supports in a metallic tube of a concentrator of a traveling-wave tube.
