Combined formation coring and formation sample collection tool

An apparatus of coring and sampling a formation includes a wireline assembly 101 incorporating a coring tool 103 for taking solid samples and a formation testing tool 102 for taking liquid samples. The formation testing tool 102 is operatively connected to the coring tool 103 possibly by a field joint 104 and in some embodiments the coring tool (808, fig 8A) includes a flowline (812, fig 8A) for formation sensing. The coring tool 103 may be capable of operating with low power consumption.
