Means for replacing a sanding belt in a belt sander

A belt sander comprises a drive roller 12, an idler roller 11, a sanding belt (not shown) and lockable idler roller moving means which comprise a lifting rod 26, a threaded rod 21 and a rotatable shaft 33. An upper end of the lifting rod 26 is connected to the idler roller 11 and its opposite end is connected by means of an internal threaded section to the thread (25, Fig. 3) on the threaded rod 21. A bevel gear (23, Fig. 3) is secured to the opposite end of the threaded rod 21 which meshes with another bevel gear 35 on one end of the rotatable shaft 33. The shaft 33 is rotatable by means of a handle 34 attached to its other end. Rotation of the shaft 33 by means of the handle 34 rotates the threaded and lifting rods 21 & 26 and consequently the idler roller 11 is movable towards and away from the drive roller 12, thus allowing the sanding belt to be replaced.
