Techniques for processing formation log data 211 include processing the data 213 based on an initial set of formation-borehole parameters 212, to produce an initial value of a desired parameter 214, wherein the processing is performed in a borehole, sending the initial value of the desired parameter uphole via telemetry 215, and correcting the initial value 221, based on a second set of formation-borehole parameters, to produce a corrected value of the desired parameter 224. Any formation log data that can be inverted based on borehole/formation model may be processed using the techniques of the invention. Examples of such formation log data are sonic waveform data and nuclear magnetic resonance data. Examples of the desired parameter are compressional slowness, shear slowness and a transverse relaxation time (T2) distribution.
