A self-assembly railing system comprises pre-cast sections 1 of railing. They are joined together without welding or screwing, and are preferably joined using a stepped interlocking joint held by a locking collar 5. The sections can be fastened to a wall top or upright. Feet 3 may be provided, and may have slotted holes for fixing and adjustment. The railing may have horizontal bars having a diamond shaped cross-section to reduce rainwater settling and thus corrosion. Finials 2 may also be provided. The sections may be bolted to a wall top and may be fixed to uprights using pillar fixing attachments 4.
