PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aim at gaining both of precise simulation considering pulsation and a sufficient decrease in a computational load for a method for predicting and analyzing the performance of an internal combustion engine presupposing the simulation of the amount of air flowing into a cylinder.;SOLUTION: Upper-limit and lower-limit engine speeds, where the pulsation of intake affects the amount of air flowing into the cylinder, are set to Ne1 and Ne2. When Ne1NeNe2 is true, it is determined that the influence of pulsation needs to be considered, a 1DCFD model, namely a model in which the influence of pulsation appears in the simulation result, is used to simulate the amount of air flowing into the cylinder. When the above condition is not true, it is determined that the flow rate of air in an intake passage is uniform and the amount of air flowing into the cylinder is simulated by a lumped constant system fluid model for simulation (air model 14 for both the cases).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
