PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for predicting and judging whether or not susceptibility to acute exacerbation is present in COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) using a gene associated with the susceptibility to acute respiratory tract infections (acute exacerbation) in the COPD or polymorphisms associated with the susceptibility to the acute respiratory tract infections (acute exacerbation) in the COPD existing in a near DNA region of the gene as an index. PSOLUTION: An analysis of 200 SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) around 94 genes associated with immunity and inflammation considered to be associated with general infections is carried out from nucleic acid database search about genetic diathesis which is a risk factor of the susceptibility to the acute respiratory tract infections (acute exacerbation) in patients suffering from the COPD. Thereby, it is verified whether or not the susceptibility to the acute respiratory tract infections (acute exacerbation) in the patients suffering from the COPD is caused by the conversion of the CCL1 (chemokine cc motif ligand 1) gene produced from the SNPs. When a mutation in base species in a polymorphic site is detected as in the case of the SNP rs2282691 (ID: NCBI SNP reference), the susceptibility to the acute exacerbation is judged to be present in the patients suffering from the COPD.
