PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium-based foam glass material having bulk density of about 1.2-1.8 and usable for waste water treatment.;SOLUTION: The granular foam glass material 15 is obtained by melting, foaming and firing a mixture 9 obtained by mixing a glass granular body having 5-100 μm particle diameter, a granular body containing a magnesium component, a ceramic granular body having 0.5-5.0 mm particle diameter with a foaming agent in a mixing apparatus at 600-1,000°C in a firing furnace 11 and quenching the fired material 12 in a jet water spouting apparatus 13. In the resultant granular foam glass material 15, the granular body containing the magnesium component is exposed on the surface and the void inner wall surface and then, the granular foam glass material added into water to be treated adsorbs phosphorus contained in the water to be treated to carry out the water treatment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
