PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-retentive pavement structure which stably exerts a water-retention/evaporation function over a long period of time, which has proper constructibility, which facilitates maintenance and which is excellent in economic efficiency, and a water-retentive pavement block for use in the structure.;SOLUTION: A plurality of trays 11 are installed on a roadbed 1. A base course material layer 3, which is composed of crushed stones 3a, is formed inside and outside the trays 11, and the porous water-retentive block 5 is installed via a water-absorbing material layer 4 such as dry-mixed mortar. When the temperature of a road surface rises in fine weather etc., moisture is evaporated from the surface of the water-retentive block 5, and the rise of the temperature of the road surface is suppressed by heat of evaporation, so that a heat-island phenomenon etc. can be prevented. Water, which is stored in the base course material layer 3, is supplied to the water-retentive block 5, the moisture of which is evaporated, through the water-absorbing material layer 4 by using the trays 11; a water-retained state is constantly maintained even under inclement weather conditions in summer; and the effect of suppressing the rise of the temperature of the road surface can be maintained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
