PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for performing the classification of persons.;SOLUTION: This digital image processing method includes a step for performing access to a plurality of digital images including a plurality of persons; a step for executing face recognition to determine first scores relating to similarity between the faces of the plurality of persons; a step for executing clothes recognition to determine second scores relating to similarity between the clothes of the plurality of persons; a step for providing a plurality of formulas for estimating such probability that the faces and clothes belong to a plurality of persons, wherein at least one formula of the plurality of formulas utilizes both the first scores and the second scores, and at least one formula of the plurality of formulas utilizes only either the first scores or the second scores; and a step for selecting a formula for estimating probability relating to the similarity of the identities of the two persons from among the plurality of formulas based on the availability of the first score from the first scores relating to two persons among the plurality of persons, and the availability of the second score from the second scores relating to the two persons.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
