PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality by controlling the slice thickness of the tomographic images of the variable pitch helical scan or helical shuttle scan of an X-ray CT system having a two-dimensional X-ray area detector in a matrix structure represented by a multi-row X-ray detector or a flat panel X-ray detector.;SOLUTION: In the image reconstitution of the variable pitch helical scan or the helical shuttle scan, the slice thickness is controlled by combining at least one or some of z filter superimposing processing, weighted addition processing of images in which a weighted coefficient is multiplied with the image-reconstituted tomographic images continued in a z direction and the image reconstitution of multiplying the weighted coefficient with the respective views of X-ray projection data. By the above, the slice thickness of the variable pitch helical scan is controlled to be the same slice thickness in the entire imaging range or in respective imaging ranges, or the tomographic images controlled to a desired slice thickness are realized.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
