PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-crystallinity anatase-single phase titanium oxide ultra-fine particle having a specific crystal face and a particle size of 5 nm to 100 nm with high crystallinity according to a novel production method of titanium oxide, and a production method of the high-crystallinity anatase-single phase titanium oxide ultra-fine particle. PSOLUTION: A titanium oxide ultra-fine particle is obtained by using a hydrolysis product of a titanium alkoxide or titanium metal salt as a starting material, hydrothermal-treating a mixture of an alkali aqueous solution, water and a diol or triol to the hydrolysis product, and crystallizing the resulting mixture. This titanium oxide ultra-fine particle has a particle size of 5 to 100 nm and is a high-crystallinity anatase-single phase titanium oxide ultra-fine particle in which a crystal face ä101} is clearly appeared.
