METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETERMINING POLYMER SEQUENCE WITH STATISTICAL CERTAINTY USING MASS SPECTROMETRIC ANALYSIS

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrated method for determining a sequence of a polymer, using information collected by mass analysis, and a method of overcoming substantially a problem related thereto. PSOLUTION: This method of obtaining sequence information as to the polymer containing a plurality of monomers having a known mass includes steps of: (a) providing one group of polymer fragments, each of which is different by one monomer or more; (b) measuring a difference x between mass/charge ratios about at least a pair of the polymer fragments; (c) determining an average difference μ corresponding to the known mass/charge ratio of the one monomer out of the plurality of monomers of known mass; (d) selecting a desired reliable level for the average difference μ; and (e) analyzing the difference x to judge whether the difference x is different statistically from the average difference μ in the selected reliable level.
