PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a softener for paper, capable of imparting excellent flexibility and sizability to the paper without reducing paper strength.;SOLUTION: The softener for the paper comprises (A) a condensate of an amide-amine compound with urea and (B) an acrylamide-based polymer having 100,000-3,000,000 weight-average molecular weight, wherein the mass ratio of the condensate (A) to the acrylamide-based polymer (B) is (60:40)-(99:1), and the condensate (A) is obtained by reacting two kinds of amide-amine compounds having different amidation rates with the urea of 0.1-1 mol equivalent based on 1 mol of the amino group of the amide-amine compounds.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
