PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying self and non-self antigens implicated autoimmune disease. PSOLUTION: The method for identifying self and non-self antigens implicated autoimmune disease comprises selecting an MHC class II molecule associated with an autoimmune reaction, selecting at least two main MHC bond pockets of the molecule, identifying a pair of amino acid residues bonded to each of the selected pockets, elucidating a sequence motif for the molecules allowed at positions corresponding to the pair of the amino acid and comparing the amino acid sequence of a peptide with the sequence motif. The antigenic peptide is isolated and identified by the method and is associated with pemphigus vulgaris and multiple sclerosis. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
