REACTOR PROTECTION SYSTEM, SENSOR FOR REACTOR AND METHOD FOR MONITORING REACTOR

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor protection system, a sensor for a reactor and a method for monitoring the reactor which make it possible to monitor an output distribution in a core in the reactor in real time and enable a safe operation of the reactor at higher output levels. PSOLUTION: The reactor protection system has an in-core instrument assembly 10 with -ray sensors 16, 18 and 20 and corresponding neutron sensors 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 and 32. Both the -ray sensors and the neutron sensors directly monitor the output distribution in the core, the -ray sensors compensate the time delay related to responses from the neutron sensors and the neutron sensors compensate the sensitivities of the -ray sensors to the -rays generated not only by reactions in themselves but also by wastes from the reactions.
